1% for the Planet

Investing in the environment for future generations

1% for the Planet is an international non-profit that raises awareness among individuals and businesses to support, through an annual donation or volunteer work, associations committed to environmental protection. Joining this project allows us to donate, every year, 1% of our turnover to a non-profit organization engaged in environmental sustainability projects. This means that, by purchasing from our site, you are indirectly helping the planet!

To maximize our contribution, we have decided to opt for an exclusively monetary donation. Each year we can choose one or more associations to which to donate part of our turnover and 1% for the Planet supports us in choosing those most aligned with our values.

Renounce harmful preservatives

Parabens are chemical preservatives used, given their low cost, in a great many beauty products. Their main purpose is to increase the shelf life of products. Unfortunately, these can be toxic and cause an allergic reaction on the skin. For this reason we have decided to replace them with natural substances that the body tolerates more easily in order to avoid the risk of sensitization and contact dermatitis.

In addition to being irritants and toxic substances that the body is unable to dispose of, they also have a significant environmental impact, being substances that tend to accumulate in the bodies of marine mammals, presumably behaving like estrogen, steroid hormones normally responsible for behaviors and changes related mainly to the sphere of reproduction.

Products from organic farming

We certify our products

AIAB is the Italian Association for Organic Agriculture. In Europe, the regulation for organic cosmetics is EU Regulation 1223/2009. Cosmetics that bear the Bio Eco Cosmesi AIAB label comply with all of the following parameters:

• Usage of products and packaging with a low environmental impact that guarantee the highest possible protection for the consumer and, at the same time, are able to meet all her/his expectations.
• The absence of non-eco-compatible raw materials in products and packaging.
• Absence of non-plant raw materials, irritant, of synthetic origin and that may cause harm to humans.
• Exclusive use of raw materials from organic farming or from certified wild harvesting.
• Exclusive choice of dermo-compatible raw materials.
• No PEG, PPG derivatives, ethoxylated compounds, aggressive surfactants, substances that can cause environmental damage, compounds that can give rise to nitrosamines (carcinogens), animal derivatives such as collagen, silicones and derivatives, acrylic polymers, formaldehyde, synthetic dyes, aluminum and silicon derivatives.

Cruelty Free

We respect animals

In EU, since 2013, there is a law that prohibits products tested on animals but, nevertheless, there are still cosmetics and make-up brands that do not respect (or do not respect in part) this rule.

In fact, as above mentioned, the law of "cruelty-free" exists in Europe, but not worldwide. So the same company can sell "cruelty free" products in Europe but continue to test the products on animals and sell them in other countries. In fact, some large multinational companies own both cruelty-free and non-cruelty-free brands. This is also one of the reasons why some brands can never be sold in Europe.

Low environmental impact

We seek to reduce our environmental footprint

In order to reduce our "environmental footprint", we have decided to collaborate with companies that limit net CO2 emissions and whose founding values are sustainability, clean energy, reduced consumption and reduced use of fossil fuels for their production facilities.

For the same reason we limit to the maximum the use of plastic, one of the major contributors to the pollution of the marine environment, we use only raw materials from controlled organic farming and we have permanently eliminated from our formulations silicones, PEG, paraffins and parabens, as artificial and non-biodegradable molecules (as well as potentially harmful to humans and able to promote blackheads and millet grains).
